2011 cascades drum majors

The Cascades are lucky to have such excellent member leaders including our newly announced 2011 Drum Majors.

Lead Drum Major Bennie Hodder attends Olympic Community College pursuing conducting and composing. He was our assistant conductor last season and is a three year veteran of the corps. Bennie plays many brass instruments, piano and is currently learning strings. His future goals include becoming a conductor of a symphony and making sure that DCI never dies in the Northwest.

"I want to be able to always support Drum Corps all around the world in any way I can. I follow 2 simple quotes. - "music is what feelings sound like" and "Har Tro" Norwegian for "have faith." These two quotes remind me of who I am and what I need to do. I plan to be a strong and firm leader that can help keep the corps running at full speed all summer. With a deep love for Cascades, I pray every day that I can be used to make the Cascades better. I am just one person, and can not change the world, but, I can try."

Newly appointed Assistant Conductor Caitlin Heber, a junior at Central Kitsap High School in Washington, whose primary studies are math and science. She plays the flute and piano and her future goals include graduating from high school with 4.0 GPA, attending a distinguished/renowned college to obtain a degree in either math or sciences and continue her music education.

"I'm so excited to become a part of the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps! I finally am able to be and make friends with an extraordinary, dedicated group of people who love music and marching just as much as I do. This season has lots of potential and with the talented Cascades staff leading the way I'm excited for the future of the corps. I'm so pumped to be selected as the assistant drum major and will strive to be the best I can be."
